Don't let your wedding be a washout!

Over the past 10 days I've come across 3 weddings that were having their reception in a temporary marquee, but only 1 marquee managed to get erected!! Andy Beamish and his (from Events & Tents) team worked like a set of drowned rats long into the night to  raise the floorboards of the marquee to ensure it was stood above the water logged ground. It was well worth it considering the beautiful weather they had for the actual wedding on Saturday! And the other 2 weddings? - they had to be relocated because the marquee company couldn't cope with the wet weather, my heart goes out to the brides!

Wadenhoe Wedding

Wow what beautiful weather it's been for a wedding today - especially considering how miserable it's been lately! Wadenhoe was the perfect setting for this wedding, as their grounds were in full bloom and the scenery from the house was stunning!

Death by Chocolate?

Only someone with a truly dottie imagination can get with a theme like this.....yes you've guessed it Dottie Photography / Creations styled this shoot, with cake and sweet treats by us of course.

The Ultimate Vintage Wedding

Katie & Gareths wedding at Pipewell was the ultimate vintage wedding. The impeccable styling was all done by the bride herself, and of course, nothing less than a Couture Cake and the finest Leboutins would suffice!

Julia Parrys wedding at the Swan

I was just looking back over some of my previous wedding cakes and I realised I haven't shown you all this lovely wedding, which took place at the Swan in Lavenham - better known as Lovejoys local!

You can view a lovely selection of the photos, and of course the cake, on my facebook page

Cakes and Kittens!

I love it when brides email me a picture of their Couture wedding cake and the cutting. This one is particularly special, because when Katy popped into the studio for a birthday cake, she got more than she bargained for....not only because she chose her wedding cake, but also in the form of a fluffy semi-long hair kitten! My cat was still expecting at that point, so Katy had first dibbs on them as soon as they were born!

So this also gives me an excuse to post a picture of her kitten, Daisy, who is the spitting image of her mother!

Janet and Ernest @ Eastnor Castle

Having worked closely with Janet throughout the 18 month design process for her cake, and hearing about all the beautiful details she had planned, her wedding was eagerly anticipated!

It was a true honor to be chosen by Janet, as despite being able to take her pick of suppliers from London (where she lives) or Herefordshire (where her wedding was taken place), she chose Couture Cakes to design & create her wedding cake, requiring her to take the 100 mile trip to our studio for her design consultation, and our 130 mile trip to deliver her cake to Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire. I love a girl that knows what she wants, and will let nothing get in the way of her getting it!

Janets guests enjoyed layers of cappuccino, haazelnut praline, banoffee & vanilla cake, chosen because they are herself & Ernest favorite flavours

Some of my favorite touches include the pearls draping from the candelabras, the magnificent horse & carriage, and the heart shaped Chinese lanterns (which was the last time lanterns were allowed to be released from the castle), and the spectacular dress! Not just one dress, nor 2, or 3..... but 4 dress changes! Janet & Ernests Chinese roots enabled her to celebrate both with English & Chinese ceremonies, warranting multiple wardrobe changes worthy of a hollywood red carpet!

Yet, above all the endless perfect styling, it was the love that shines through that is so truly touching about their wedding, evident in the emotion portrayed in photos of the church singing, speeches, and endless tears that were shed. Even the rain parted at the most opportune moments, a true sign from god!
